Complaints Procedure

Inner Warrior Therapy, a trading name of Porth Morvah Ltd

Last updated: 19 August 2026

I take the quality and safety of my work seriously, and I want to hear from you directly if something in our work together, or in how the practice is run, has not been right for you.

Step one: talk to me directly

If you have a concern about your therapy or about anything else connected to Inner Warrior Therapy, the first step is to raise it with me directly, either in a session or by emailing carl@innerwarriortherapy.co.uk. Many concerns can be understood and worked through this way, and in a relational therapy practice, being able to bring a difficulty into the room is often part of the work itself.

I will acknowledge your email within three working days and aim to respond in full within fourteen days. If your complaint concerns the therapeutic relationship itself rather than a practical matter, I may suggest we discuss it directly in session, since this is often the most useful place for it to be understood and addressed. You are free to decline this and ask for it to be handled in writing instead.

Step two: an independent professional body

If you have raised your concern with me and it remains unresolved, or if you do not feel able to raise it with me directly, you can take it to the professional body that holds me to account.

I am a member of three professional bodies, and you can raise a complaint with whichever one you feel is most relevant, or with all three if you are unsure. Each has its own independent process for hearing concerns from members of the public about a member's conduct.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy, UKCP, holds its registrants and those completing registration to its Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. You can read about how to make a complaint at psychotherapy.org.uk, by emailing complaints@ukcp.org.uk, or by calling 020 7014 9955 and selecting option three.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, NCPS, can be contacted about a concern involving a member at conduct@ncps.com, or by calling 01903 213 683 and leaving a message with a return email address. Full details are at ncps.com.

The UK Association for Transactional Analysis, UKATA, of which I am a member through its Training and Accreditation Standards Committee, TASC, handles ethical complaints against members through the contact form at ukata.org, which has a specific option for raising an ethical complaint, or by emailing office@ukata.org.

What to expect

Making a complaint will not affect the quality of care or respect you receive from me, either before or after it is resolved. If you are a current client and feel uncomfortable continuing sessions with me while a complaint is being considered, we can discuss a pause or a referral elsewhere.

Concerns about immediate safety

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact emergency services on 999, or go to your nearest A&E. This complaints procedure is for concerns about the standard of my practice, not for emergencies.
